Bestselling author, Stephanie Wrobel approached me in 2020 to create promotional material for her upcoming book This Might Hurt. She was looking for a series of event posters for her character Madame Fearless, an endurance artist/mentalist who performed high-profile live stunts. Without yet having read the book, I was provided with a brief around the character’s backstory and her various stunt performances that took place in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s.
Together, Stephanie and I decided that the posters should be reminiscent of vintage magician posters with vibrant color palettes and chunky, all caps type, while giving the viewer a curious yet slightly unsettled feeling.
The posters were included in a Book Kit created by Wrobel’s publisher, Berkley. The book kit was sent to select press and booksellers to raise excitement and awareness about the book. These are two of the nine page promotional material.
